Painting this rabbit was a great lesson on not being hard on myself. When I first painted it, I was having trouble connecting with its spirit and it was looking very hard/harsh, and very masculine – almost aggressive! This was mirroring how I was treating myself over a few issues. When I took some time to tune in to what was going on in my body and mind and deal with that, I went back to the painting again and the gentleness and softness of its spirit emerged. I have called it Peta Rabbit to honour my gentleness and softness, usually identified as feminine energy, hence the female version of the name Peter (Rabbit).
